It was once thought that only teens had a serious problem with acne breakouts but this is not always the case. Adults often suffer from this problem just as much if not more than adolescents. While there are numerous products that you can purchase either over the counter or by prescription in relation to this skin condition, there are also some simple things you can do at home to prevent it before it becomes a problem. One of these things is simply watching what you eat.

It has been reported that what you eat has a big impact on how your skin looks and feels. Foods that are high in oil and sugar should generally be avoided to prevent breakouts. This is because the excess oil becomes trapped in your skin which leads to you pores getting clogged which is essentially what causes blackheads and pimples.

Eating plenty of vitamin rich vegetables has been shown to help tremendously in preventing future acne related outbreaks. Green, leafy vegetables and those that are high in antioxidants are generally the best choices because of their high cleansing abilities. The more your body is cleansed of toxins the healthier it is. A healthier body leads to healthier skin.
