There are many things to consider when the decision is made to modernize or remodel your home or even just a room in your home. The first thing to think about is the overall look or theme of the room. How do you want it to look or what kind of items do you want it to include. Many people already have a general idea of what they want before they even begin the project.

Once you decide on a theme stick with it. Choose items and décor that go with that theme. You don’t want to put a checkerboard pattern against a stripe pattern unless that is the effect you are trying to achieve. You do however want to have some small differences such as one pattern for the walls and something else for the floors. You will also want to include proper lighting to give the room the effect you are trying to achieve. Darks rooms don’t always look and feel inviting so keep that it mind when you are choosing the type of lighting you want to use.

The overall effect of the room should be warm and inviting, especially if it is a room that you or anyone else is going to be spending a good deal of time in.
